Focus group: Questions

After carrying out my audience research I asked my focus group some questions to gather a more clear view into my specific demographic and their habits towards media consumption etc. By gathering these results, it should help me to gain more of an insight into how to engage with the audience correctly and more techniques that are more likely to want to keep them watching on past the intro.

1. How often do you watch documentaries?
Jake - Once every few months
Max - Usually every month
Daniel - Most weeks
Kerri - One or two a month

2. If you came across this documentary would you want to watch it?
Jake - Yes, the topic seems interesting and something that I would be into, especially as there will be many other versions of the theories told online that would allow me to form my own theory around the subject.
Max - Yes, it's an interesting topic and I have watched content with a similar topic on YouTube before, which I really enjoyed, so I would give it a watch.
Daniel - Yes, I have already come across other documentaries and short videos on conspiracy theories and it would very interesting to see the take that you have on the theories and how you approach the style of the documentary.
Kerri - Yes, the idea of this documentary seems fun and not something that I have really watched before, so would be exciting to watch, especially with the family.

3. What is your favourite genre of documentary?
Jake - Murder and mystery documentaries are the ones I find most interesting.
Max - I tend to enjoy murder documentaries the most.
Daniel - I quite like mystery documentaries, as they are really intriguing.
Kerri - A lot of the documentaries I have enjoyed in the past have been true-crime.

4. How likely would it be for you to engage with the show via social media?
Jake - Quite likely, probably not to talk about it myself but to see other peoples opinions on the show and their theories.
Max - I would probably use social media to engage with the show by reading through what other people have to say and maybe even comment on the show myself.
Daniel - Very likely, especially if there is a specific hashtag for the show, I quite enjoy interacting with other people watching the same show.
Kerri - Not very likely, I don't really use social media that much/

5. Have you ever watched any shows on BBC Three?
Jake - No
Max - Once or twice
Daniel - No
Kerri - Yes, a few times
